Homes built during the late 1970s or earlier are likely to have interiors covered with lead-based paint. When this paint starts to chip, it becomes dangerous.
If lead-based paint is ingested or inhaled, it can cause weight loss, headaches, brain damage, and lead poisoning. Also, some newer paints contain VOCs, which are also toxic.
